Sir Edmund Hillary – a mountaineer and philanthropist , one of the first climbers to summit Mt. Everest. Hillary said “People do not decide to become extraordinary. They decide to accomplish extraordinary things.”
Matt started coding in grade school from a BASIC program example in a textbook. Making the computer do something new was fascinating. Through high school and after college he focused that fascination on learning the ins and outs of software development and helping lead teams on dozens of projects. He loves digging into new technology and challenges: at Viagio he’s been the technical leader on large successful projects in manufacturing, healthcare, insurance, and sports using a variety of modern development stacks.
I love that we get to build incredible things with many different technologies and businesses. Each has something new and different we can learn from. The people I work with are all incredibly smart and engaged and focused on being the best they can. Getting to play a part in developing that talent is a pleasure.
Rachel’s journey in tech started by chance but has always been fueled by a passion for helping people reach their potential. While earning her degree in Community Health from the University of Kansas (Rock Chalk!) she found herself aligning more with her minors in Business & Leadership which sparked her desire to explore opportunities outside the health and wellness field. Trusting her intuition and ability to connect with people, she jumped into agency IT recruitment which then led to her meeting and joining the Viagio team. Rachel aided in the rapid growth Viagio experienced by finding the right talent to join the team and continues to focus on ensuring an individual’s journey within Viagio is a positive, fulfilling experience.
Because I’ve seen the impact we can make in our people’s lives. Whether that’s setting them up to stretch their skills and grow in their career or celebrating a life milestone with them, the level of genuine support shared is special. It’s exciting to be part of a team that’s always learning, growing, and working together to accomplish a shared vision.
I admire my yoga mentors for helping me grow into the best version of myself. Through this handful of people encouraging me deeper into my practice, I found a new perspective that I’ve been able to channel into all areas of my life. Now as an instructor myself, I’ve learned how living authentically creates alignment between our purpose and passion, allowing us to show up for others more effectively. This is invaluable when thinking about building and supporting world-class teams. When you have a group of individuals that show up with the same level of vulnerability, passion, and intent to serve, you create magic together.
As the Senior Director of Client Experience at Viagio Technologies, Kate brings with her over a decade of experience in the tech industry. Prior to joining Viagio, she worked at local Kansas City SaaS companies such as SMG and FanThreeSixty, where she collaborated with Fortune 500 companies and sports organizations like the MLS, USL, NASCAR, and NCAA. Kate’s primary focus has been on building and leading teams that strive to deliver exceptional results and experiences for clients.
I can truly say that I work with some of the smartest and most thoughtful people I have come across in the tech space. The attention to detail and the desire to deliver quality work makes me proud to sit beside my fellow Viagio team members every day.
My mom is someone that I admire greatly. When I look at my dad and my three brothers, none of us would have excelled in our careers if it wasn’t for her. The list is long with everything she has done for us, but I’m fairly certain she proof read and gave feedback on almost every high school and college paper my brother’s and I wrote, without ever complaining or batting an eye. Our success is her success. She also makes a mean batch of cookies, so that also doesn’t hurt. 🙂
I am an accomplished business operations leader with 15 years of experience in Human Resources. My experience provides focus and passion for transforming businesses. My journey has given me deep Human Capital Management knowledge in cultural evolutions, employee engagement, Executive coaching and performance management. I love helping people reach their full potential. My love for human behavior and inspiring others drives my passion.
“You only get to walk on this planet once, so you better get to experience as much of it as you can while you’re here.”
– Mike Zimmerman, Founder | CEO
Mike founded both Viagio Technologies and Beyond the Scores after working for many software companies. He started his tech journey as a software developer after earning his undergrad degree from the University of Nebraska in computer sciences. Mike took the opportunity to learn custom software development from some of the best tech designers in the Midwest. His Aha! moment came when he presented to a group of successful KC business owners as an MBA candidate. He launched his tech journey when he secured investment from Helzberg. The rest is history!
Being the catalyst that caused something really big to happen. We build quality products, every single time. The longer you’re in it, you start to be really proud of the people that are a part of the business — the impact and the growth that you see in the talent on your team…success in their lives.
Liral Holt, my mentor through HEMP. Liral and I immediately connected when we first met. Every time I go talk to him, I leave that conversation full of energy and a renewed sense of self-confidence!
Being an entrepreneur or a CEO can be a lonely profession. Not a lot of people that can relate to what you’re going through. Liral’s that person for me. He truly cares about our relationship and makes you feel super important. When you think of people that you want to model your life after, Liral’s the guy!
“Opportunities don’t just happen, you have to create them.”
– Scott Lippert, President
Scott started his tech journey in IT staffing and consulting after earning a Bachelor’s degree in psychology and minors in both management and sociology from the University of Missouri. It was the 90s and he had only a phone and a fax machine. He built out the executive talent in the mobile tech space for Sprint. He went west and found success in the Telecom Corridor. Scott’s journey brought him back to KC, where Balance Point was born as the biggest IT staffing firm in KC to help companies recruit and hire talent. Viagio Technologies developed out of a move from Balance Point’s staffing platform with a shift to custom software companies and solutions.
If you don’t have failure you won’t have success.
I’m pretty hard on myself. I would like to tell myself to not take everything so hard. You’re going to have failures in life and that’s part of the learning process.
Tom Brady, one of the greatest professional football players of all time. Tom has his personal life in order. It’s the way he handles himself – a class act, good father, great competitor, and super smart. My son’s name is Brady!
“Be grateful for what you have and don’t take things for granted.”
– Steve Odell, VP of Engineering
Steve has been dabbling with computers since before college. He graduated from Kansas State University with a Computer Science degree in 2007. Going to work for a small healthcare IT company, he worked on developing a large software solution for managing and monitoring healthcare solutions within hospitals. He quickly moved into a leadership role, overseeing the whole software engineering team for the company’s flagship product. His tech journey then led him to join a custom software solution consultancy. Steve’s been through the evolution with Viagio Technologies ever since.
The culture and core values that we foster at Viagio. They allow us to be a great company with great people who really care about what they are doing. The culture and values allow everyone to work with high performers that focus on doing things the right way.
My youth pastor from high school. He supported me in a pretty dramatic way through a very tough time in my life. He showed me how to have a meaningful life and rise above significant challenges that I was facing. He played a critical role in my faith as well.
Nancy knew she wanted to be an accountant in the seventh grade. She graduated from the University of Kansas in 1990 with degrees in Accounting and Business Administration. After a few years as an accountant in the advertising industry, Nancy landed at Sprint, where she expanded her skills and got her first experience leading a team, as well as providing key insight into the development of internal software systems. Nancy then spent over 20 years running her own full-service accounting business, working with multiple small companies in the KC Metro area. A few years after being hired full-time with a client, Nancy was excited to join the Viagio team in November 2019.
Viagio’s culture is built around doing our best and helping others do the same. I love seeing what our developers create and how those solutions help our clients.
I admire anyone who is willing to be their true and authentic self. By opening up and sharing our true selves, we allow others to do the same, enabling deeper connections and relationships. Brene’ Brown and Glennon Doyle both exemplify this in their work and how they live their lives.
